FAIR
(Families Adopting in Response) Why consider joining a support group that may be 3,000 miles away? Because it's worth it. Even if you never come near Northern California, FAIR's publications and website offer invaluable support, advice and inspiration. FAIR publishes detailed, practical manuals for both schools and parents written by families in the front lines--how parents can be advocates for their kids and get results--how teachers can turn the dreaded family tree assignment into a positive learning experience. FAIR kids and young adults create heartfelt magazines where they share how it really feels to be bounced around by the foster system; to wonder about a birth mother on the other side of the world; to manage adoption, race, physical challenges, adolescence, and homework--all at the same time. FAIR News covers everything from "homework hassles" to "thinking out of the box for challenging children" to "birthparent transformation." It's all written by real adoptive families who are facing every kind of challenge and crisis--and still sharing their joys, successes, failures, and jokes. You have to love an organization that asks you to "please do reprint or copy any part of this publication in any form without the express written permission of the editor!"
